 rack question
if i were to build my own rack system, would you suggest building it to have lids on or off the tubs?

That would all depend on how you build you rack. I personally prefer not having the lids on. It just makes it easier to get my snakes out. I have one rack that I need to leave the lids on and one that doesn't, and I really prefer the one that doesn't.

I have a rack with no lids and although it is easy to get them out cleaning is not. I'd actually suggest that a lidded tub is going to be WAY easier to clean and would be seriously be looking that way.

Kitedemon, may I ask why it would be easier to clean tubs with the lid. I really don't find any difference in cleaning with my racks.

Lids off is easiest. Each time a snake pees/poops, i wipe out the tubs and i spray the top of the shelf where the snake is exposed to the melamine.
Spray that then wipe it out, and put tub back in. Could you imagine a person with 50+ snakes or even 1000+ snakes having to take the tub out to get lid off and feed.

im wondering the same thing.
i figured either way, build it so theres any where from 1/16-1/8" gap between top of tub and bottom of next shelf, i was wondering more if it made any difference in keeping temps and humidity (shouldve put that in original question i guess)

yah lol, that would be a hassle, but im not really planning on having more than like 20 or so snakes ever at any given time (hopefully)
not including the few favorites that would have full blown tanks and "natural" habitats
