    Incubator Thermostat question.

    Would using a VE-100 be a significant problem in a mini-fridge incubator?

It's an on/off unit, as opposed to a proportional unit.

It wouldn't be a significant problem, some commercial incubators such as the hovabator have an on off type. The down side to these of course is the chance of temps falling +-2 degrees over a proportional. If I had to make the choice I would get a proportional.

I agree with the above poster. Proportional is better for maintaining constant temps. I would go with the VE-200. I just got a pair for some of my racks and I like them alot so far.

Thanks, I'm going to exchange the 100 for the 200. I'd much rather be safe than sorry!!!

It should work just fine there are people using Ranco and Johnson as well without any issue.

Ah, Deborah! Now you've made me rethink my decision to spend the money to upgrade...and instead save the $30 to spend at the next expo!

In the incubator is where I strive to keep the most stable temperatures out of all my enclosures.

To me it is well worth the small amount of money to upgrade to a proportional style thermostat.
I feel the amount electricity it will save you over it's life it worth the money to upgrade alone, not to mention more stable temps for the eggs.

I used a on/off my first season and had to continually adjust it, believe me the $30 extra is money well spent.
I will never use an on/off for an incubator again, some people may have stable environments that their incubator sits in, but if the ambient room temperature swings very much so will the temps in the incubator.
