Belly heat necessary?

I'm using wood cages with infrared heat lamps for my BP's. Temps and humidity have been perfect and they seem happy. Is belly heat really necessary if the warm side's running close to 90 degrees anyway?

Given that some people use back heat in their racks I don't think belly heat is necessary.

I use a combination of both infrared and belly heat, as my house gets cold so I need the lamp to keep the air temperature up.

No, your bp could live a long healthy life with out belly heat.

Belly heat with a UTH is the ideal setup to have, but you can use a lamp and be fine.

Belly heat is not needed. Correct temps are, how you get them is not important that you have them is and that you can maintain them is. There is no ideal set up, just ones that have correct husbandry and ones that do not.
