Feeding Question
Apophis weighs around 85g. Would he eat a adult mouse? I've been told that the size of food is dependent on the width of the largest part of the snake. But his neck is so small.

I fed my originally 66g pastel large rat pups about 20g+ each with no problem. I think an adult mouse is a bit much. A hopper would be more its size, but I don't feed mice, stricly rats.

Re: Feeding Question
You can possibly find a smaller adult mouse. Give it a try, you know the rule. So I think you'll do find.

Ok I have been feeding hoppers but they seem small to me. They need to carry a slightly larger f/t mouse at petco. I have a small mouse in my colony I'll try out. Thank you for your advice.

there ya go... or feed a hopper every few days to get over 100gram size, ive got a female that was 80ish grams and started on hoppers when i brought her home, now eating like rat fuzzies/crawler almost and she is at about 100grams.

They can take rodents alot bigger than is typically recommand. I have a female spider mojave that was 65 grams out of the egg. She took a hopper the day after shedding on 23-Aug-11. She ate a normal adult size mouse as her 2nd meal. Her 3rd meal she ate a large mouse (40 grams). On her 4th meal she was switched over to rats. Last night just 31 days after her first meal she took a small rat weighing 70 grams which was 36% of her current weight of 193 grams. I beleive the largest meal for her was the large mouse @ 44% of her weight at that time.

I have an 85ish gram female pastel (gonna weigh her after she poo's!) that is pounding rat pups....not fuzzies....pups....
I don't think an adult mouse will be a stretch. Good luck!

the rat fuzzies are a little smaller than the widest part of their bodies

I try and feed them every 5 days, but it usually is closer to 7 depending on my schedule...
Up to about 300 grams I try and feed every 5 days, anything bigger I feed every 7. My boa gets fed every 7-10 days, depending on the size of his meal.
