    Pleased to welcome Freya!

Hello, all, and thanks for coming by. I'm a brand new, proud owner of a ball python. I'm 25, and suppose that I'm just too excited to not say a thing or two.

I was at the Toronto Reptile Expo in Mississauga after having seen my friend Richard buy a snake two and a half years ago (female mojave), and my other friend Brian purchase a male pinstripe last year at this same expo.

I'm not allowed to keep a snake in the house.
    Bit of a holdup, aye?

I am lucky to have a friend like Brian, with whom I orchestrated a deal that would see him keeping the snake while I'm living at home, 'cause I still have a bit of student debt and would much rather buy than rent. But anyways!

I happened to come across a vendor that was selling pewters. I was originally interested in pastels, 'cause of the beautiful colours, and also the lemon blast potential way down the road. I also like the look of cinnamons... so to find a pair of beautiful pewters, and to have the vendor reduce the price a little ($450 base, he reduced to $400 and I talked him down to $380) I pulled the trigger and picked out the larger and more beautifully blushed of the two 4-week-old females.

She's ... perfect. I gush when asked about her. People that knew their stuff at the Expo were in awe at the price pulled off for her quality. 71 grams. I hope to speak with you all regularly with some updates on her progress!

I also had a query... I was holding her while we were driving home, and she wrapped around my hand and started gripping, then loosening, then gripping, then loosening. She reminded me of an earthworm, almost. I was worried that she might be getting anxious.

It also bears mention that she's in the exact container she needs; pretty standard tupperware setup, with a low height, heated hide (90 degrees) on one side, open hide on the other, plenty of airholes, and a tight seal with a paper towel floor.

It also helps that Brian happens to love photography. Enjoy! And please feel free to tell me things about the snake that I probably don't know - I'd love to hear all sorts!

Her first feed is planned for Friday evening. She won't be touched until then, to help her acclimate.

Oh, and last thing, she was named Freya because of the spear-shaped marking running up her neck to the base of her skull; I wanted to name her after a valkyrie, but seeing no good valkyrie-esque names, I stayed in the Nordic pantheon and picked something just as suiting

Looking forward to hearing from and meeting you all,

    Kevin

Those are gorgeous pictures. I hope I can get half as good at taking pics of my own babies. Of course, you already had a beautiful model to work with.

Thank you all for making me feel welcome! I can't wait to grow and learn.
Just to re-up my query, though you've given me little cause for concern; what was she doing when she was pressing in around my hand and then loosening repeatedly?

Also, today's task is to rip up the undershirt I have on today (I showered sans soap!) and leave a couple shreds in her hides so she associates my scent with safety.
