41 qt tubs. Any tubs out there that cuts the lenght in half that can fit in my rack?

Hi,

I just picked up an adult rack that holds 41 qt tubs front to back. Is there a smaller tub that would fit into this rack? Like a 20 qt Sterilite so I can house smaller BP's with out the cool side of the tubs being extremely long? I would like to cut it down to about half so I can get adequate "cool side" temps as well as have smaller BPs feel more secure.

the 28 qt are the same height as the 41's. i have a 28 qt side by side rack that i take 41 qt tubs and put in side ways. i would just leave it alone and build a smaller rack to house what you have now and keep the 41 qt for when you have adults. otherwise you will be buying an adult rack soon as well. get a sterilite 28 qt and see if it will suit your needs but dont cut the rack. if your worried about the heat being in back see if yu can move it to the front so you can use the 28 qt tubs.

Dimensions? Heat source (back or belly) and dimensions of that. Current temps and readings? Pictures would be nice too. There's a lot of variables that make it impossible to answer your question with only the above information.

Thanks. The rack is the length (back to front) of a 41 qt sterilite tub with belly heat all the way in the back of the rack. There are two strips of 3inch(?) heat tape about 2 inches apart. My problem is that 70% of the tub is not covered by heat tape. I haven't tested the temp yet, but I do have a herpstat to hook it up to. My room's ambient temp in the winter months drops between 65 - 70, so I think the smaller the tub is for now the warmer the cool side of the tub will be. The BP's I am going to put in it are yearlings. I will perfect the set-up and heat before the snakes arrive next month.

Ill have no prob getting the hot side to 92, but I'm worried about keeping the cool side at 80-82. Thats why i think that a tub half the length would help.

Here is a pic of a simular rack I found on the web. Mine has 2 strips of 3 inch heat tape in the back.

I have that design rack. I have found that mine retains heat quite well. The underbelly heat, the black color, and the closed-in design help with that. I actually get condensation on the inside of the tub where the water bowl is. Although I would never let my ambient drop that low. That's too cold for me to to be convortable in. I would think though that they would know if the far cool end was too cool and stay away from it.
