From personal experience, and fact, this creates more pleasant and healthier animals.
That's part of the reason that most ASFs are very aggressive.
I did not trash you, and i'm sorry you're offended.

Hi, you need to remember one very important fact here on Bp.net most everyone posting in this sub forum is breeding ASF's to feed their Ball pythons. They are not pets to us they are food for OUR pets. If the OP wants to separate babies that are obviously feeding on there own they will be perfectly fine.

I realize this, and I also feed mine. But health and temperament are something that all breeders should have as a common goal.
Will the babies live, and grow? Yes.
Will they be as healthy, and non-aggressive as ones left with their mother? No.
That is my only point here.

Thanks everyone for the feed back. I will probably separate them tonight. I have seen them eating small food. I don't want them to be aggressive but I would rather have them be aggressive then to keep getting their heads ripped off. I need these to start branching out so I can start using them as food.

I separated them tonight. It turns out they have killed 4 of the babies in less than a week. I must not have seen two of the bodies in time.
Hopefully they do well on their own.

I don't have any specific number of days or weeks that I separate them. When their eyes are open and they hop around, that usually is enough. When I do separate them it is into male and female grow out bins. I'm running around 18+ sets right now of 1.2 and 1.3's.

What a shame. I hope they do better for you! Good luck!

They are doing fine. Now I did end up finding out who the cannibal was. It was the mother of the litter. I caught her right in the middle of the act, another female had a litter. I let her finish her dinner then feed her off.
