I am constantly worrying about him moving the probe out of place. It stays suctioned to the bottom well. I've only once had it come up and that was directly after cleaning.
I glued the probe and the whole cord too, didn't want to give the snake a chance to get tangled with the cord (not likely to happen, but I would like to play safe)
Once I have to change the tank, I'll prolly be looking into better thermostats, so it kinda works out for me

Did you cover the whole probe in glue? It won't read temps right if you did. Hopefully just the cord and the base of the probe are glued? The tip of the probe is where the sensor is so if that's covered you may have to pull it up and uncover it.

well, I did put glue all over the probe, BUT, there is some part of the probe (like 1/3) making contact with the glass... but, since I am currently modifying the tank, I will take all the glue off the probe, just to see if the readings keep the same.

Thanks, I didn't think of that

What happens if your snake pees or takes a crap or spills his water bowl onto the thermostat probe if you decide to place it inside the enclosure? Also, the snake could move the thermostat probe if it is not secure (DO NOT USE TAPE). Both could easily result in a cooked snake!

You want to have the thermostat probe outside, underneath the enclosure on the heat mat.

The thermometer probe inside, under the substrate to know what the hottest point in the enclosure is.

Modify your thermostat temp so that the hottest point inside doesn't get above what you want your hot side to be.

Some keepers have to set their thermostat to 100+ degrees to achieve the desired hot spot temperature inside under the substrate.

If you glue the probe only glue the back half of the probe. The 1/2 that connects to the cord. Leave the front 1/2 unglued so it can read temps right. If you do do it in the enclosure it needs to be in a spot the snake cannot lay on it, or you need to make sure the snake cannot spill the bowl. Etc. You can do it on the side of the tank on the hot spot side maybe an inch from the bottom, just set it lower. Like I have mine set for 85.f. And on the sub it reads 92.f. You'll have to fiddle with it before gluing it down. You want to make sure your placement is right before you secure it down.

Though, while the probe was glued, both the t-stat and the thermometer were reading the same temps on the same spot...

    Yes, it does.

You tape it directly to the under tank heater. If you know the exact temperature of your UTH, you can easily adjust every thing accordingly.

Neither the thermostat or thermometer probes should be inside the enclosure. Again, there should be no tape inside the enclosure OF ANY KIND. This includes scotch tape, painters tape, and any other type of tape you can think of.

tanks or tubs... doesn't matter. If it is set up correctly you should never have to mist anything.

For your humidity u can take a piece of plexiglass cut it so it fits inside the lip of the tank. Then cut about three in off. throw a few hinges at the bottom where the two pieces meet. And a few cabinet locks on at the top drill some air holes and glue the little piece on and pow u have a secure lid. Then turn it on it's side and ur humidity prob is gone. It cost me twenty dollars and about an hour to do mine. And it looks better than a screen lid.
