Kinda bad (but not really) shed question.

As I was cleaning my big girl's tank after her shed, I noticed that there was a patch along her back that didn't come off entirely. It's maybe 3 inches in length and goes less than half way down her sides. Everything else came off nice and clean. Should I soak her for that little piece, or just gently pull it off? I want to cause the least amount of stress possible.

A 15-20 minute soak in lukewarm water and gently rubbing it with a warm, wet towel or washcloth should work it off.

Bummer, I was hoping it would be less stressful to her to just pull it off.

You can try to peel it off. It may come off easily. Something that works really well is to wet a wash cloth and wring it out...then just handle the snake and let her slide through the cloth while you rub it across her back. Probably take that extra shed off without the need to soak.

Just make sure you peel/rub from the head toward the tail.....and if it resists and doesn't peel back without pulling up the new scales underneath, then stop and go to plan B. (The soak)

Thanks Judy, I think I'll give that a whirl. It's such a relatively small patch, I didn't want to go through all the stress of a soak.
