Probed too far

I've probed my other snakes before but never a >100 gram snake and.. well.. i didnt push too hard but she curled her tail and it went in like a male but some blood came out on the ball tip of my probe. Not much but a little. I bought her at an expo and the guy said she was female but i wanted to double check and im not the best at popping so i decided to probe. I've read that the snake will heal and be fine but do you think that this little girl will grow up to be infertile? Thanks in advance for any responses.

girl it shoudnt cause any reproduction issues. if it was a oy then maybe. but hey they have 2 anyway right.
probing isnt as easy as some make it. i was fortunate enough to have a good friend and long time breeder show me the ropes on probing and popping. it needs to always be done with care and a soft grip. you cant hold the probe so tight that you stab the snake when it moves. you need to hold it light enough that it will move ewith the snake if it starts freaking out. sometimes a second pair of hands helps.

You would have been better off popping, hatchlings are very very easy to pop

Im scared i did the same to my breeder male recently... Just as it stopped he curled up a bit. And i felt a cartlige like feeling. No blood and no swelling so i dunno. Nervous about doing it again. Hope i didnt do any damage.

were you using ball tipped probes? if so then i wouldnt worry too much. if you didnt see blood then you should be ok as well. adult males have amazing muscle control down there and you probably just felt the muscle contracting as the tail curled. i have faith he will be ok for you.

Hi,

Hold the tail so they can't bend it like that.

Hold the probe so lightly that if they do move the probe slips in your hand and doesn't stab into the snake.

Thanks. He seems fine. Yes ball tipped of course. His attitude hasnt changed at all. And he doesnt seem injured

when probing its always a good idea to use a lubricant like vaseline or ky. this will help if the animal moves or curls it will slide out. if they start to move let go of the probe. i personally never probe hatchlings as they are super easy to pop. probing is not something you want to do is you are not possitive on how to do it. it doesnt sound like you did too much damage. they should be fine.
