RE: Help with chlorhexidine
Just a quick question about chlorhexidine, I have done a bit of looking around for cleaning agents for my enclosures and wanted to see if anyone uses this. Also where do you buy it from. I noticed that a local farm supply store sells it and was wondering if this is suited for our needs in the snake field. Does any certain concentration work and should you use it full strength or dilute it down, also should it be rinced away after use or let it dry before putting snakes back in the enclosure. I think they use it for cleaning cows or something like that. I think it would be good to use to disinfect but wanted other opinions before swithching over to it. I currently use chlorox wipes and finish with a rince. Just looking for something that may work better. Also any input on this stuff working to keep mites away also. Thanks for your time......

As long as its the 2% solution your fine no matter where its sold.
Amazon sells gallons for like 8-15$ plus shipping.
All I use for my snakes and its harmless to them. Says mix 1oz to gallon of water but i use 1oz per spray bottle.

I bought some off of Amazon also. A jug will last you a while. I bought a spray bottle to mix it in. That stuff is great. I don't rinse but I make sure I wipe it dry.

Re: Help with chlorhexidine
I use it and love it. I mix it 1 ounce per gallon in my bucket for soaking enclosure furnishings and 1 ounce per spray bottle for tub cleaning. I usually rinse it off the furnishings so that I can dry them, but for enclosure cleaning I just spray and wipe with paper towels, no rinsing.

This stuff works great!!! However, I found that I like to use a solution that a breeder friend of mine suggested. I use a mix of 1 part hydrogen peroxide, and 1 part water. Thats it...its harmles, and cleans really really well. The best part is I don't have to order anything because the dollar store down the street sells hydrogen peroxide for like a dollar, and water is free Just thought I would post another option. Hope this helps.
