Hey Guys,
Here's some background information: I bought a bunch of pastel het. axanthic BP's off a breeder who was closing up shop. I bought 4 breeding sized BP's and he threw in a 5th BP that he got back from someone who bought him two years ago and didn't want him anymore.
They're all the same age but the 4 original snakes are over 750g and he cant be bigger than 350g. From what I understand the previous owners kept him in a 10gallon tank for the first 2 years of him life. And I got the idea that they haven't fed him in a LONG time.
I'm really worried about him. When we first got him he went in the rack with the rest of the adults. Because he's so small we gave him hides and paper towel rolls to hide in. For the first few days he hid in his paper towel roll and would poke his little head out every now and then to say hello.
The last few days he's spent on top of his hide on the cool side. I just found this a little strange considering I would assume he would feel more comfortable in a hide or towel roll. The hide is a made out of a planter pot from walmart. And there is barely enough room for him to squeeze himself between it and the shelf above him. The only thing I've changed lately is that I took him off of the paper towel we were using for substrate, and put him on craft paper (We have him on paper because we are keeping an eye out for mites) due to the HUGE humidity readings that we were getting (Mid 90's!!). The humidity has dropped to mid sixties now.
I'm worried that he isn't spending any time on his warm side which is only reading at 88 degrees, and that he is out in the open ALL the TIME.
Thanks![]()
