    Herping with the kids.

Took my 3 kids, ages 2, 4 , 12 out into the woods yesterday. We ended up catching 2 redbacked salamanders, 2 bullfrogs, and 3 Eastern American toads.
They have so much fun and are really good about releasing the animals after we're done. Unfortunately I forgot the camera!

On a scout hike earlier this year we saw a cottonmouth sunning itself on the side of the trail, of course parents freaked out, but we kept a distance and was a good teaching moment for the boys on what to look out for and what they look like. It is amazing what can be just outside our little comfort zones.

A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.
