Do i need hides if I keep my snakes in racks?

Do I? There are no stores that have bowls that are small enough to fit in tubs and I dont want to buy the black hides or hides at the pet stores.

would also say it depends on the snake, and the size of the tub...

I use newspaper in racks and the snakes will hide under the paper. I don't place hides in, but it can't hurt if you want to.

I use hides in my tubs because they are not in a rack. My snakes seem to appreciate them. I have one BP that is really shy he also will only eat live. He will wait for the rat to come to his hide door (bam) then he drags him on inside to eat. So I would say depends on the snake.

I used to.. but had a bp break her neck because of grabbing a rat while she was in the hide.. when she went to coil it, rolled and snapped up on the hide entry funny..

She died a couple weeks later.

I have since removed hides from all of my bp tubs and am leery to even have on in my boa cage..

Re: Do i need hides if I keep my snakes in racks?

Really does depend on the snake. If they use them, leave them otherwise take them out. Mostly though it seems that in a rack, the tub IS a hide. It's really dark all the way in the back.

Only picky eaters get hides, otherwise I use no hides in my tubs.
None of my adults use or get hides
