    Question about newly shipped snake

Seems i just cant get away from it. I just got my albino ball this morning. When i hold him I hear a popping sound. Is this signs of an RI? What should the breeder i got him from do about this? I havent heard back from him yet but just wanted to know what to expect.

I would inform that breeder of the situation that way if it does get worse the breeder knew about it from the start. I am having a similar problem with a rat snake I got last week. I'm not sure if it's a RI but he is being kept away from my collection and other quarantined animals. Just keep an eye out for other signs of RI. I hope it turns out to be nothing.

Re: Question about newly shipped snake

It may just be stressed from the shipping. Set it up in an appropriate enclosure away from your regular collection...observe all quarantine practices...and just let it be. Check again in a week and see if you still see any signs of potential RI.

In the meantime, definitely let the breeder know of your concerns as quickly as possible. Tell him of your plans to let the snake settle in and have a chance to recover from the stress and then you'll make a more thorough check of his breathing. And ask the breeder if he believes you should do anything differently than I've suggested. He may know something about the snake that we don't...or he may have some specific procedure you must follow (ie: getting the snake to a vet asap) in order to fulfill his warranty conditions.

Re: Question about newly shipped snake

So I told him and he was great about it. He said to keep an eye on it and if it got any worse let him know and he would refund me completely.
