With 4 bumblebees, I'd say that you have plenty of trading material there to get yourself a superpastel, and a few other things to boot.

    Congrats on a nice clutch!

wait! you paired a Bumblebee and a Pastel, and got normals out of that mix (besides the little bumblebees)??

I really have a long way to understand all the genetics stuff :/

Yeah that's kind of why I was hoping to get a super pastel. If you breed a bee to a super pastel, you won't get normals

Yes I've already been thinking of trying to trade one of the bee's and maybe a little cash for a male pied. I have a male and female het pied that should be ready to go next season, but I've been debating if it's worth trying with hets, or just get a visual so I can at least guarantee the babies will be hets and up my chances of getting visuals.

Well, think of it this way. If he's just a bumblebee and not a killer bee, and the other is just a pastel and not a super pastel, they both only have one pastel gene ("heterozygous"). That means each parent has a 50/50 chance of passing that gene onto an egg, and they could both fail that shot (normals). You'll get it!

Why don't you sell them all? Then you could buy a killerbee with your newly acquired funds? If not I can definitely understand wanting to produce your own. Either way, those are all stunning bees!

Thanks! I really want to keep a few of them since it's my first clutch, at least 1 if any of them are females. I would really love to be able to create something I don't have, which I think that's where the thrill of breeding comes from, at least for me. I'm not really at a point yet where I'm super concerned with selling everything and making money. Don't get me wrong, I would love to make money, but it's just a hobby for now... well until my lesser, mojave, pastel het OG and het pied females are ready to breed next year I think I'm gonna need a bigger reptile room lol!
