Humidity levels.

Hi all, I'm a bit worried about humidity levels in my tank. I read that spaying water on the snakes can make humidity go up . I don't have a monitor to watch the humidity I'll be getting one in a week or two. As for now should I spray them daily if so when should I how many times and etc? Thanks a lot .

You should actually get your humidity gauge just so you know your actual humidity percentage. You never know it actually might be in the right percentage already.

Yes ty to purchase an accurite thermometer/hygrometer, to raise humidity in the enclosure, you mist the enclosure, not the snake.

Putting a damp towel or foil over the top will help hold humidity. You really need to know what your humidity is, too high can be just as bad as too low.

Ok I'm going to apply a damped towel over the tank . Could I use a cloth instead like a rag or old clean tshirt?

I've only every used a towel, but I can't see there being much difference between a towel and a t-shirt.

Also so I leave the towel there for how long I'm thinking about leaving it till I get the monitor.

Another question my tank is a small 10 gal it's temp is 84f right now is that good and when should I turn on and off the light. It has a day / night schedule because it's by a window and sun light dose not beam or hit it is this good?

I'm sorry, I miss read your question. If you want to put a cloth inside the cage you should make a humid hide. These work pretty well and can be made from tupperware. As for the towel on top, you pretty much leave that there all the time. I have one over my boa cage that I wet everyday and wash once a week. This has been working pretty well at keeping her humidity up.

For the lighting, BPs don't need light. They are nocturnal and don't bask. Lamps will also kill your humidity. You never want to keep a reptile cage in direct sunlight either. When you re-do your caging, get rid of the lamp and switch to an under tank heater (THIS MUST BE CONTROLLED BY AT LEAST A DIMMER, A THERMOSTAT WOULD BE BEST).

84.f is also too cold. A big reason why you may have Low humidity is bc your hotside needs to be 92.f and your coolside 80.f.

the sun never really hits into the tank...
Im going to get a UTH soon maybe some time this week.
I have a black light bulb, So your saying I never really need to use it?

Also I have that sticker attached to the glass and it tells me the heat, I dont this this is that good for a monitor and going to buy one soon , this week maybe when i visit the pet shop im my area.
