    Is my boa still sick?

I just finished giving my boa her six doses of Fortaz injections for her RI. Today I had her out and she seemed fine, then I heard her breathe, and it sounded a bit... bubbly, kind of like when a person has a cold and they breathe, but very slight. That was only one breath though, and then she started hissing, so I don't know if it was just her hissing, or what. She also has a nose rub, and I don't know if that could cause noise in her breathing. I also saw her throat puff up once, like she did before treatment, only less exaggerated.

I wonder, since she spends most of the time in the cool side of her cage, if the antibiotics didn't do as much as they could as if she was warmer. Her warm side is 92-95.. and the cool is around 80 or less I think (grr I forgot to check that).

I examined the inside of her mouth. It appeared red to me, and there was a bit of blood that came off on the q-tip. Now, she just bit me the other night, and perhaps a tooth or two got ripped in the process.. what do I do?

On the other hand, she just gave me a lovely poop tonight, and she's been eating like a pro (f/t her last meal) She's also extremely active, alert, and energetic (read: pain in the butt when out of the cage) she flicks her tongue normally, and there was no sign of mucous in her mouth (I also looked in the nasal passages, and saw nothing there either, and watched for her glottis to open, and... nada.

    Ideas?

I just wanted to add that I accidentally gave the first one or two doses of Fortaz intramuscularly instead of subcutaneously.. would that affect it's usefulness?

Boa skin is so much easier to pierce than BP skin.. I went too deep at first without realising it.

Anyone? I'm kind of worried about her, though she doesn't really act 'sick'.

I just had her out.. I think perhaps her mouth looked a bit less red. I didn't see blood come off on the q-tip, but there were some red spots. She does not like her head being grabbed (of course, but I need to do that to examine her mouth) and I only noticed her 'whistling' after I made her a little upset, so I think it's at least partially her hissing.

I put silvadene cream on her nose rub every day, and I just noticed it kinda gummed up her nostrils. Could that perhaps be the cause? ..or it is most likely her RI didn't get wiped out by the antibiotics yet? ..maybe I should just get more shots for her. Again, one time, her throat puffed up a bit. Is it just that the air can't go out her nostrils, so it inflates her throat as it 'whistles' out? I mean.. if she's hissing, the air is going more forcefully, so it perhaps would be easier for the air to inflate her throat than go out her nostrils.

    I don't know..

I would say your best bet is to get her back to the vet and let him determine whether or not she needs more meds , You dont want to let up right when its doing some good , this will allow time for the infection to build up immunities for the meds. I also would warm up her cool side to help her boost the imune system

Ok.. I'll try to get her in tomorrow morning if possible. Too late to call now.
