One down one more to go

Well one of my females just gave birth yesterday to a litter of 12.
I have another female due any day now. Wasn't wanting two at the same time but she wasn't suppose to be a she lol. Was told she was a male by the pictures of her but o well will be interesting to see how many she gives us. I will try to post pictures later.

First one is doing great she is playful after one day. I opened her tote lid and she jumped up and walked around the edge as she always does then when I put her on my should she sniffed my ears and nipped at them as usual. So all is good with her

No the male and now female I got from a batch of feeders I bought locally. I bought 30 rats and ended up with 32 so kept two to start a breeding pair. Was asking questions and was told on here by the pictures I took that she was a male who hadn't dropped yet. So I ended up getting 2 free females from some one to get my breeders.

Long story short the two I thought were male were housed together until I noticed the one male mounting the other. I had Guinea pigs before so I thought nothing of it until I noticed the one was getting a little round. By that time I had already paired the male up with one of the other females.
No biggie just wasn't expecting two litters this close together

Congrats Always exciting when rats start popping. I have 7 litters on the ground right now all spaced a week or so apart for the most part. Works perfect that way for variable food sizes!

    Some pictures

    Here is dad

He does not like coming out and when I do take him out he does everything he can to get away from me ( doesn't bite) he loves being in his cage.

Dolphin (she is ready to pop)

This is the one I was told was male but ended up being female

    Bell

Doing what she always does running around the rim of her tote. She was a little crabby today and nipped me when I went to pick her up but I guess thats to be expected with a new mommy.

When I finally move into our house I am going to be looking into a home made rack for them but for now I am using some old totes and some hardware cloth.
