Is she pregnant? Let's find out!! :D

So my black berkshire ratty might be pregnant. I just got her, and she is still young, so she may be pregnant with her first litter as I picked her up from another breeder. Not the best practices, but the ratty is healthy and looks great so I'm pretty happy.

Anyway, she is only 8 oz right now. I know a good way to track pregnancy is by weight. If she steadily gains weight, I'm guessing she is, but we will have to see.

Behavior wise, she doesn't seem interested in the male and vise versa. She has been friendly. She feels a little fat to the belly, a little bit firm but not overly so. She is in the corner and has made a nice simple nest, that only has shallow sides. Something that I think a non-pregnant rat would make, but again I'm a novice!!!

Now, my other female is a bit smaller than the berkshire, and she was actively teasing the male. They slept together a few nights. Now that the new female is here, they are often in their own corner but no fighting at all. I check on them very often as I have been on vacation.

Anyway, I would love thoughts and comments.

Besides the fact that they are still pretty young, but it's better to breed them at this size than at 6 weeks old that's for sure!

Impossible to tell if she is pregnant at this point, but if she's been in with a male, she's probably pregnant. Judging by the pictures, she is not heavily pregnant. She is most likely just making a sleeping nest.

She is not a Berkshire, by the way. Berkshires should have a completely white stomach, extending to the feet and tail. She's is probably an Irish Marked, they generally have a large white area on the belly.

Oh my...why post that last picture of the Black Eyed Siamese? There should be some kind of cuteness warning before posting such things. I'm so jealous of your BES and Burmese!

I thought I bred the dwarf rats out of my colony, bred two completely unrelated lines together and ended up with about 70% dwarfs. I'm not a huge fan of the dwarf genes in rats because I like the larger variety. However, for whatever reason, dwarf rats have such cute little faces!

I just have a Ruby/Red eyed line and an interesting Pink eyed line of Siamese. The babies are born orange (and I mean orange). They look like fawns as babies.
