This has happened to me before. It depends on how long your power will be out and what the temperatures are like in the house/room they are kept in. Luckily, the first time my power went out my room had already been heated to 85 so I threw a couple blankets over their tubs, blocked any airflow from coming in/out of the room and their temperatures remained stable for a few hours until it was turned back on. That was in California, now I live in Vegas and when the thunderstorm knocked out my power a couple weeks ago I wasn't worried at all considering it was 90 degrees out and their temperatures didn't fluctuate at all.

I too worry about this, an auto start generator with a automatic transfer switch is the best option or a battery system with a transfer switch, neither of them is neither easy or cheap. I want to set up a battery system but I am still designing and waiting for cash, lots of cash.

In the mean time I have a handful of snuggle safes. They need to be heated a head of time so in stormy weather I heat mine wrap them up and hope the power does not go out.

I just put them in a tupperware container and toss them into the enclosure. It holds heat for 10 hours. If it continues I'll drive someplace warmer!

I use plastic 2ltr coke bottles filled with warm water (92 deg on my infrared) to start with, the need to be changed out every couple hours. After the hot water heater runs out of warm water I switch to hand warmer type heaters.
But because of expense of the warmers and the fact that the power isn't normally off for more then a day this works good for my collection.

I worry a lot about power outages because I'm from a cold climate, so I keep a bunch of 40hr heat packs handy just in case. If I see the temperature falling close to 75 in the room, then I crack a few (1-2 per cage) and stick them under the enclosure on the side where the snake is. I say under the enclosure though because I've seen those heat packs get up to 165F! So I just stick them underneath and hope the power comes back soon.

Another thing I do is rotate the snakes through a bit of handling or I'll put on a hoodie and let them sit in there for a bit to warm up a little too.
