    Help with vacation planning.

My boyfriend and I will be going on a vacation 9/20-9/26

We are not leaving at weird times so we will be able to take care of our BP Snickers on both 9/20 before we leave and 9/26 after we get home.

It's the 5 days in the middle that I'm worried about.

I have friends that would be willing to stop over and change Snickers water dish on 9/23 and clean up any poop/urates but they refuse to handle her(they both did already and got scared even though Snickers is a total docile sweetheart)

    Is that enough???

I need to figure this all out before I leave because I read a horror story on here of someone who went on vacation.(granted it was a story of a BP tipping it's water dish and dying from RI but there is no way in hell Snickers could tip hers....it's HUGE and heavy and she is only 1 year old)

I want Snickers to be safe though.

    Advice?

P.S. I didn't even want to go on this vacation but was forced into it.

As long as your equipment is good order it should be fine. It won't need to be handled unless something is very wrong, so that's not really an issue. As long as they do spot cleaning and a water change, you should be ok. Just make sure your thermostats and heating pads/bulbs are in good condition, and make sure they know how to close the enclosure properly!

We heat UTT with thermostats. I'm not worried about that. I will instruct on how to use the "clips" to close the enclosure. I'm not worried about that. Snicker's tank keeps the proper humidity level on it's own now so I'm not worried about that.

    What I AM worried about:

Snickers has crapped in her water dish one time before. She only did it once but that was over 6 months ago but...(is that going to be okay to sit for 2-3 days before it is changed if she did it right after we left???)

Her pooping in her water dish is the sole concern I have about not dealing with her for 5 days.(But her water will be changed ONCE in the middle of the 5 days)

I would get like a 3-4 inch crock style for a back up water source incase the main water bowl gets soiled. In my experience they are less prone to poop a bowl of this size, so it would be a good back up while your gone.

Double check your husbandry before you leave, and give the BP fresh water before you leave. It will be fine.

That's a fantastic idea! I just have to make sure it's something she can't possibly tip. Well I have PLENTY of time to find a suitable dish as my vacation is still 2 months away.

    Thanks!
