    Blue toungued skink Diet

    Hey guys,
I was wondering, does an adult blue tongued skinks have to eat insects?
I know they need 50% veggies, 50% meat, and 10% fruits. Insects are in the meat category, but instead of feeding an adult BTS insects, can I just feed him lean meats?

plz reply, all answers and comments are appreciated

I like to offer mine insects along with veggies, meats, and occasional fruits. My BTS really likes superworms.

    Also, FYI, 50% + 50% + 10% = 110%, so I don't think that's possible

I think its more, from what I have read in other posts.

60% high calcium vegetables similar to those listed for a bearded dragon (listed below in the link).

40% protein: lean raw meats, high quality canned cat food, "can o' snails" (zoo med), insects like roaches or super worms (avoid crickets).

    Fruits as an occasional treat.

I have never fed my BTS raw meat. He loves lean ground beef cooked in water on the stove. I will mix it with collard greens, and mustard greens along with some can o crickets or snails. Superworms and raspberries for treats. Be careful not to get to much of a raspberry smell on your fingers, I got nipped the other day because my index finger smelled like one.
