    Incubator Question

I had a question regarding my incubator. I'm using an igloo ice chest with 11" heat tape and a herpstat. I had it setup for about a month prior to the eggs and it held a nice temp with no problems. When I put the eggs and egg box in it was fine to start. I'm now two weeks in with the eggs. They look good. I'm getting a littel condensation on the lid of the box but not dripping on the eggs. The temps are fluctuating though. I have it set at 89 and it keeps going up a degree or down from time to time. The box has a separate thermometer it and I'm getting fluctuations in that as well. I've read the manual and seem to have it set correctly but aren't sure why I'm getting these ups and downs. I'd appreciate any input.

I get condensation on my lids also, I'm just careful when opening once a week & wiping off. a flutuation of 1* isn't bad.

This is my first year breeding so I get nervous for every little thing. Thanks for the reply.

    Re: Incubator Question

This was my first year breeding as well. I also used a cooler incubator and noticed the exact same thing with my temps...would go from 89-90 every so often. I used cling wrap as well as a lid on my egg box. I just took a paper towel and wiped off the condensation that built on the cling wrap when I aired out the eggs. I also wiped off any drops that got on the eggs as well from opening the box. Out of 7 eggs all 7 hatched healthy babies. Good luck to you!
