Nix on rodents

Hey all question i have an out break of mites and there on my ASF's and rats can i use Nix on them ?????

You could, but I wouldn't. Use the lice bedding spray to treat the bedding instead. This will mean cleaning each tank thoroughly, adding new teated bedding.
Buy a cab of provent-a-mite on line, and use monthly to prevent future infestations.

I use PAM. Freaking rat breeder transferred them to me Will not be buying rodents from the shows anymore..

I'm not certain but you might want to avoid feeding any treated animals to your snakes.

Can anyone remember some info about this?

Mr Dr Dell i know there are a lot of people that use Nix and spray it right on there animals ? That's why i was wondering if Nix can be used or should i just wait it out and let them die off ?? From the rodents ?

Well I have seen people kill their snakes with nix an I have seen people kill their snakes with rodents treated with nix.

If it was mine I'd treat the rats but get my feeders somewhere else for a month.

I just had an outbreak myself and I pressure washed my rack down with bleach and bought two different mite sprays from Petsmart : one for birds and one for reptiles and rotated that for two weeks and all gone. One set of my asfs ate two of their newborns but other than that everybody fine.

Hot Shot Bed Bug and Flea Spray, get it at Home Depot for $12 a gallon.
Has half the dosage of permitherin that PAM has, spray the bins, not the animals every time you clean, you will never have mites again.
For the animal, use Natural Chemistry Reptile Relief, or whatever they're calling it now.

this has been my procedure for two years, and I haven't had a single mite since I started doing this. Before that, I tried absolutely everything I could read up on with only marginal success.

I have 150-200 snakes and reptiles at any given time, fed off of my breeding colony, never lost a single snake, or even had a symptom of poisoning in my reptiles.
I have 400 breeding rats, probably 800-1200 live feeder rats, and at least 1000 mice at any given time, in two seperate outdoor sheds, with no recurrance of mites since I started using HOt Shot....

I would wait at least 1 week (after the last treatment), and one cage cleaning (with un-treated bedding) before feeding treated mice or rats to a reptile. This will make sure that the treatment had probably been cleaned completely off of the animal, and out of the cage, and it will not get into the reptiles, and make them sick.

That's just me personally, because you never know if your animal might have a reaction to any medication that was used on your feeders.
