    My First Sac!

I bred my A. versicolor for the first time a few months back and this is what she gave me. HUGE sac with lots of babies! I'm so excited about how many will turn out, I have lost quite a few these past few days but i'm crossing my fingers for the rest and hope there are no more losses. This is her first sac aswell as mine. Cross your fingers and wish these little troopers good luck!

I know nothing about T's but that is wicked-looking. Are they regularly opened and incubated like that? It's interesting. P:

    Re: My First Sac!

    Congrats!

Versi's are in my top 5. Its pretty common to lose a few during incubation, more that 5% and somethings wrong. Versi's in particular will up and die for no apparent reason some times though. From 2i to about 6i youll need to keep temps/humidity/and ventilation up thats when they are really touchy. I've had around 10versi sacs over the years, xchondrox over on AB pm or email me if i can help at all.

The last picture of all the babies is really cool and interesting! I'm not much of a fan of spiders too much, but this definitely makes me want to learn more about them. She's pretty! And congrats!

It just depends on the breeder... Some let the mom take care of it and others would rather not risk the mother eating it. versi's tend to be good mothers so I left the sac in with her for almost 2 months, she just made me nervouse so I decided to pull it. I also just couldn't wait to see what I would find! Sometimes the sacs don't make it at all or they are just infirtile so it was quite a surprise when I found these little guys in there.

Man do I love my versi! Thanks for the info. I have not had anymore loses since them and the remaining ones are up and crawling around. They are still first instar so i'd say another month until they molt into 2nd? All in all I lost about 40 eggs and slings but the eggs just shriveled up so i'm sure they weren't good to begin with, the others took care of them and used them as food, lol! I haven't counted them out since then so don't know how many are left but it's quite a few.
