Is it normal for my bp to stay in his hide like 90-99 percent of the time? Is it a bad idea to take his hide away for short intervals? I find that when I do this he does come out and roam around his cage, but is this stressful to him?

also on another tangent, just curious about what the numbers mean, like someone says they have a 0.1 mojave, is that the age?

i saw someone had like 2.3 dogs, i thought that was kind of odd... lol

It is definitely not a good idea to remove the hide if your snake is using it. It's often said that a "hiding BP is a happy BP". By removing its shelter you are definitely causing stress. S/he is roaming around the cage to find another hiding place. In their natural habitat they hide in burrows for the majority of their lives.

0.1 Mojave means that person has one female Mojave Ball Python
A person with 2.3 dogs has 2 male and 3 female dogs.

Yes, a hiding ball is a happy ball! This is what balls do! You can lift it up and get him out but don't punish him by removing it! They feel safe and secure in their hides! In the wild, they only come out to hunt for food when they get hungry!
