My first snake is gone u_u

it was my first snake, A common red corn snake i purchased from B&B for $65...

I liked him, he was adorable, and I named him Bacon.
and he started a new hobby of mine, within a month now ive also aquired a ball python. and my girlfriend got her own black motley baby, and a yearling Green Tree Python.

we used a terrarium that opened on on the side and had a latching screen at the top. My girlfriend took him out from the top because he was in his tree, and I didn't know, and put him back in through the side... The top wasn't completely latched, only on one side, and.... Now he's gone u_u

Another good reason all our other snakes are in tubs.

    Anyways,
Ive layed corn starch at all my doorways, and put plastic bags agaisnt the walls for noise factor, but due to the holes in my appartments walls I have a feeling he's gone.

Is it normal to be so torn up about this?
and should i lay a low setting heating pad down on a blanket and put it in a corner and check it nightly?

Absolutely with the heating pad and some chow as well. Good luck with finding him.

Corn snakes are notorius escape artists, but yes it's normal to be torn up about your loss. I do think you are still likely to find your corn snake, especially if this is a recent escape. I have had many corn snake escapes over the years and have found the majority of them. I have a had a lot of customers with corn snakes that have also escaped, and I finally put together a tip sheet attached to my website on how to find them. Here's a link for you to take a look. Good luck!

I don't know if its the same with cornsnakes..but when my BP escaped I tore up the entire hosue looking for her...and then I found her...not even 2ft away from her cage. So look around the room wher ehe was kept in, and maybe you'll find him. Also, maybe go buy a live mouse or something and put it in a tub with holes in it so the scent will carry..maybe set up a heat pad somewhere...best of luck.

Well, although I've never had my corn escape, my cali king did before. I looked everywhere did the cornstarch, laid out food for him because it was feeding day, and used a electric blanket. None of them worked, then one day he just popped up in my bro's shower, scared the heck out of him, it was hilarious

I was told by a local breeder if one escapes to putsome kind of hide on a heat pad in a corner somewhere and take an apropriate sized rat and drag the rat along the base boards and place the rat close to the hide and heat pad (do this process everynight before bed) and the snake will adventually come across the smell because they'll tuck close to walls while wondering and the snake will hopefully go to the rat and eat it then enter the hide for some belly heat to digest...hope u find him and however you find him post a thread and let us know.
