Hiding?

A little over a month ago I got a year-old female BCI. For the first couple of weeks I had her, she was always out and about in her tank, usually wrapped around the branch or curled up between the glass and the water dish. However, the last few weeks I noticed she's always hiding. I know this can be a sign that something's wrong, so I figured I'd ask the experts.

She's fine otherwise. When I handle her she's just as active and jumpy as ever, her skin and eyes are bright and clean, she did miss one feeding but took the next, and otherwise seems normal.

So because of that, I assume she's just trying to escape the summer heat (it ups the temps in her tank a few degrees, but not enough to be detrimental, don't worry; still in the right range), but I'd just like to be safe. I need to take her to a vet soon anyway to see about getting her microchipped, so yeah.

I don't think that's a sign of problems at all. Some like to hide and some don't. I do not see my boa unless it's feeding time or I'm handling him, he's ALWAYS in one of his two hides. Sometimes at night he pokes his head out and looks around, but his entire body is still inside the hide.

I'm not so much worried that's she's hiding, just that it was such a sudden change. She was always out for 2 - 3 weeks, then always hiding for 1 - 2 weeks.

Like I said, I'm not TOO concerned, just playing it safe.

She might be getting ready to shed. Mine hide more before they shed and one of them gets a majorly funky attitude.

Doesn't stop them from eating though. Go figure.

I was going to suggest possible shedding too. They'll often hide for a couple weeks as they get ready to shed. And it can be hard to catch a boa's eyes blueing. Their eyes just aren't as dark as a BP's so it's less noticable. Any ideas when she last shed? That might help give you an idea....

She just shed about a short while ago, while she was in my possession. I don't know exactly how long ago it was, but it would have been enough time for her to recover from the shed and not enough time for her to be starting the cycle again.

If she's young, she very well could be getting ready to shed. Was the last time more than 2-3 weeks ago? If so, it is possible. Granted, not likely. But possible.

She's a year old and a little over 2 ft long.

The thing is, it was like I had her and she was out for a few weeks, then she shed, then she hid for a few weeks. Like there was no transition in between.
