I don't think it's sad, I just think of it as snake food

Re: How do you feel when feeding mice, rats, etc.?
I work pest control and after seeing what rodents can do I have NO issues pre killing or feeding them live.
I'm not your friend buddy!

I don't really feel bad about it..... I mean that's how the food chain goes. I always feed live because they are more nutrient than frozen but I got to say that some times I do feel lil sad when I feed small mice they do look kinda fuzzy you know lol

How do you measure that observation regarding nutrients?

I actually think it's kind of cute. At his last feed Ari took a fuzzy tail first and I couldn't help but think that his tiny baby bp mouth open with a cute little fuzzy mouse sticking out of it was almost too cute for words. I don't think I could feel that way about feeding live though. . .I know that the f/t mice I'm feeding Ari were killed quickly and humanely. They probably had better lives and deaths than the vast majority of animals killed for human consumption.

Both my ball python and mexican king snake have a taste for the finer things in life. Guess I've spoiled them a bit. They will only eat pan seared mice in virgin olive oil (2-3 minutes tops depending on mouse size). Then, im required to drizzle a mix of strawberry flavored balsamic vinegar and sesame seeds with a sprig of thyme on top. Occasionally they prefer a sprig of pesto-basil.

I absolutely have no problem dropping in a live mouse or ASf for my Bp's without any regret, but like a lot of others I have problems with feeding rats. I've kept them as pets and they have unique personalities like dogs....I just can't feed live rats. Having said that I have a pastel girl that's refusing to eat, and 4 new pinkies...I'm gonna have to put one in with her and see if she'll take it. If she does I'm gonna cry, cause it's a baby

i feed f/t and i enjoy feeding time.my bp has an amazing feeding response and sometimes makes me laugh, especially when shes hanging out in her tree, shoots out of her hide, strikes vertically or swallows backwards.i have seen a friend of mine feed live and it doesnt bother me,i used to raise rats in elementary to feed my teachers snake and felt no remorse.but if its a live pinky or fuzzy i would definately feel something, they are just so cute.so i voted the mid..
my ex also had a pet rat named Sasha that was the most amazing rat ever,so much personality.that rat would hang out on your shoulders and just chill.if you talked to her she would look at you.a very smart rat,i would definately feel bad if the live mouse or rat had personality like that and i would keep it. when i was a kid i chose which rats were next by which ones were just stupid and annoying,i protected the ones with personality..
