    Co-Dominant + Recessive

Hi master, Im confusing abt mixing the Co-Dominant morph with Recessive morph.
For example, if I breed male Pastel with female Albino, what morph will I get?
All Pastel Het Albino? Normal Het Albino? Albino Pastel?
Then when only I can get Albino Pastel. Thanks alot.

    Re: Co-Dominant + Recessive

Crossing albino x pastel you would get 50% normal het albino and 50% pastel het albino.

To get an pastel albino, both parents would need to carry the albino gene (either het or visual), but only one of the parents needs to have the pastel gene.

So going back to my first example you could breed the babies together to get your pastel albino. By crossing a pastel het albino x normal het albino you would get:

    12.5% Normal
    25% Normal het albino
    12.5% Pastel
    25% Pastel het albino
    12.5% Albino
    12.5% Pastel Albino

Thanks very much aalomon, so, this is the way to mix up the Co-Dominant & Recessive.
The only things is y the normal look BP will come out as we using pastel (Co-Dominant). Normal BP is Dominant right. Thanks.

Yes, pastel is codom. With codoms when you breed an animal that only has one copy of the gene like a pastel (think of a pastel as a visual het if it helps) you should statistically get half normals and half pastels. Thats why you get the normals in the cross I used in my last post.

On the other hand if you used a super pastel (which carries two copies of the pastel gene), all of the babies would be pastels.

    OIC... Thank again. So,
Co-Dominant is half half gene only. They can produce 50% Codom 50% Normal.
Super is both same gene and its in complete visual form.
n Recessive is produce het 1st then just get wat we wish 2nd. Right? Thanks.

its actually simpler than this, genes that are heterozygous (het) are 1 gene and homozygous (sometimes called supers) are 2 genes (genes come in pairs of 2 on DNA). Thats all you need to know as far as figuring out what you can get.

Recessive don't show visually in the het form, just the homozygous
ex. het albino looks like a normal, homozygous looks albino

co-dom show visually in the het form and show differently in homozygous
ex. pastel is het form, super pastel is homozygous

dominant traits look the same in het or homozygous form
ex. pinstripe looks the same in het or homozygous form

all morphs are het or homozygous, in the above example morph 1 would be pastel (het), morph 2 would be albino (homozygous). but you can pick any morph and it calculates the same, just depends if its het or homozygous, being recessive or co-dom doens't matter.

Easiest way would be to breed one of the pastel het albinos back to the albino for 50% pastel albinos and 50% het albinos.

Sorry, no. That cross would give you

    25% Normal
    25% Pastel
    25% Albino
    25% Pastel Albino

Your odds are better, but its not a 50/50 split.
