Re: What does pastel holdback mean?
It's just a Pastel, but it's one that the breeder had chosen to hold back to raise up as a future breeder. For whatever reason (funds, cage space, etc) they've decided to sell it. By stating that it's a holdback of theirs, it implies that it's one of the best looking ones that they produced. Nothing is differently genetically about it, although it may have a higher price tag due to its looks and/or size.

Sometimes I think people just slap the word on there to make it look as if it was the best one they produced, even though they may never have had any intentions of holding it back ... But I'm being cynical.
Or, taking the cynical out a bit, they may just be suggesting that it's "holdback quality" ....... Which is ultimately kinda meaningless since one person's "holdback" quality is another person's "pet only, please don't let this ugly thing back into the gene pool" quality. Y'know?
