Nothing quite like a puppy. I can't wait until it's financially responsible of me to get a second dog.

LOL...I think having a puppy is kind of like childbirth. You FORGET what it was like. I do remember that when we first got Mira, I swore I'd NEVER get another puppy again. I'd adopt older dogs from then on. But...now that she's three years old, I'm finding myself seriously contemplating the joys of puppyhood again. I think (just like with childbirth) that it's an intentionally designed form of insanity!

I adopted mine as a puppy from the local shelter. She was a tough one to train for sure.

    Re: He's growing so fast

    very cute pup.
JLC - i have to disagree there. i can see having a puppy being similar to having an infant in that you forget what it was like and swear to never do it again but i will NEVER, and i mean NEVER, forget my 3 childbirth experiences! i dont know how anyone could forget something like that. i AM grateful however that my last one was nowhere near as traumatic as my 1st 2 were.
    now someone please tell me...
what is the point of cropping ears? i can see shows requiring a certain "look" for certain breeds but if there's no showing in store for a dog's future why not just let the ears be? i know with pits the ears are almost always cropped to make the dog "look" mean and i think that defeats the purpose of defending that breed if people with them are doing that. i guess i just dont really understand the necessity for cosmetic procedures such as implants, reductions, face lifts, etc. and ear cropping/tail docking in dogs.
    can someone straighten me out?

    for 2 seconds please...........
I have raised and bred bullies for some time now. UKC show and weight pull dogs must meet standards. The original crop came in the fighting pit, one less thing for the other gladiator to grab onto The ABDA kept it as a standard because they were the original organized pit fighting group and the crop continued and overflowed as the standard look.
In registered dogs, the pricing is high and if they meet conformation it will be even higher. On the medical end of it there are two reasons I love cropping. Big floppy cute ears hold in moisture and can cause problems in game dogs that get to play in water more than they should. **Cropped the ears on an adult male I had that continued to have ear infections for several years nonstop, after removing the ear flap the infection cleared up easily and never came back** and the second thing is the bully pups play really rough, vet bills add up on stitching ears and then the ear looks bad almost permanently.
Sad part is after the initial whimper of pain they forget about it and then shake their head, now you have a pup with a bleeding ear that is hard to stop in the first place AND walls and ceiling covered in blood from the pup shaking those big floppy ears.
little longer than 2 seconds and sorry

BTW I love the looks of your dobie, I love the "super dog" on the bed pose.
They grow up quick and I bet those ears look great!!! Dobies get posted and bullys bring in the playboy channel!!!!
