Yearling weight, is this ok?

I finally found someone selling a pastel female,well, a lemon pastel. But she weighs only 400 grams and is already a yearling. Do you think I can still catch her up to become a good breeder?

Feeding properly should get her ready for 2012/13 season no problems.

Great then, though she was albeit light weight for her age. Will ask for photos and get yout opinion of them
If she is worth it coz the owner is selling her to me at around 400 usd here.

You need to ask the seller how come she is that weight?

The owner sometimes has no time or food to feed their bps so they remain smaller size. In that case you can get her up in size with more feeding.

Sometimes she can be a picky eater, like only eats mice or only eat twice every 5 offers. You need to find out that. In that case it will take years for this female to get into breeding size.

Oh, some of my late 2010s are only 300 grams. But they're not really "yearlings" yet. My largest 2010 female is catching up to my smallest 2009 male at 500 grams. (Male has been a problem feeder.)

My 2009 females range in size from 700 grams to 1100 grams. They've all gone through at least one period of refusing food.

IMO it depends on if she's a 2010 or a 2009? If she's a 2010, no problem. 400 grams is great.

If she's a 2009, that's definitely eyebrow-raising. You'll want to know if she's a problem eater. If the breeder has just been underfeeding her, she'll be happy to eat your hands off when you bring her home. But if she's had a history of refusals or picky eating, she'll be a slow grower.

It's still possible to breed slow growers. I just wouldn't count on 2012/2013.
