stinky cage! looking for safe deoderizer

i have a large wood an plexi enclosure for my one ball pyhton i use the exterior carpet for bedding. it is tossed in the laundry once a month and vacumed every week, poops are pulled asap, but it still really stinks when the lid is removed, is there like a plant(preferably) or a spray or something that would not erratate my snake thanks

I use Healthy Habitat. If you are only washing the carpet once a month, it may be dried urine that you are smelling. You could also try getting a second carpet, so you would always have a clean one on hand, and maybe try switching them weekly.

sounds like urine has soaked into the wood. if thats the case theres not much you can do. you can mask the odor but youll never be able to fully clean and disinfect the wood. if i were you id get a pvc or plastic set up or a tub or even an aquarium.

simply vacuuming the visible poo isnt going to get the urine out of the carpet. if you like the carpet id get at least another one or even a couple more so when you are cleaning your tank youll have a fresh carpet ready to go while the soiled carpet is being cleaned.

    good luck
