Corn Snakes = good show snakes?

I want to get one snake that I can put in a tank and it will happily show it self around most of the time. Is a corn snake a good choice for this? :-)

GTP's are so nice and I love the way they perched but might be too advance for me.

Corn might be a lil bit active for a show snake? albino nelsoni is a heck of a showy milksnake.

My first pick would be a BP morph of your liking.

The best of our collection for that is our Vietnamese Blue Beauty snake. She is ALWAYS out. Never in her hides except maybe the day she is fed and part of the day after. Once she digests, she is out and about. She likes to perch and climb and makes use of all of her cage.

Another good one is a Children's python. Mine is almost always out, perched on his branches. He is not too colorful, but stays small and manageable and is handleable. Also a good feeder.

I would say corns make better display snakes than balls, for sure. Our BP's are always hiding in their caves.

Perhaps my favorite snake in the world is the Okeetee Corn Snake. I ALWAYS have to have one in my collection. They do come out and are active in the evenings - at least that's been my experience.

My Nelson Milk is also fairly active and a beautiful, vibrant red.

I know that Corns are "beginner snakes", but after 30 years of keeping various snakes, the Corn is still my favorite.

My BP's also stick to their hide most of the day, that is why I was looking for something else, so corn snakes are nocturnal too and do the same thing right? Which is hide during the day?

Rather than suggest one of the dozens of other species that also make good display animals, I'll just answer the question directly:

Yup, they're fine display animals! Much of the display aspect will be in the caging, you can certainly entice them to spend all their time hiding if you decorate "wrong".

I have to agree with you on that...I have a male FWC and he is out and about from sun up till' sundown everyday with the exeption of when he's in shed or just after a meal. Along with being a great display snake he's also my fav in my collection to handle. He's a little a cage aggressive but once he's out he's literally puppy dog tame. I can let him free roam in my living room while keeping an eye on him and he doesn't try to make an escape, crawl in or under the couch or any of the sort. He just cruises around, checks stuff out, and occasionally slithers up into my lap to check in....Awesome snake!!

Corn snakes are diurnal, they actually are more active during the day, meaning the times they will be out will be while you are awake!

They are an awesome display snake!! They are easy to care for, most of the morphs are pretty cheap, and just downright good snakes! Color and sizewise to be impressive to those who don't know much about snakes and active and adorable enough to be amazing for those who do know about them! Good feeders and pretty easy care requirements.. They don't seem to get stressed to easily as long as you provide a great amount of hides, you can have them in a larger enclosure and they make good use of the space!

I'm dying to get a corn snake! My boyfriend would rather get a bigger animal though, like a coastal carpet python. Can't we get both?? I'm going to go with yes. He'll just have to deal with it.

We have corns that spend all their time hiding, and corns that are out a lot. I've found that if you stretch their feeding out a bit to 14 days or so, they are out cruising more. We don't breed, so we don't worry about keeping weight on-- our adults do fine on a 14 day schedule.

Some of my corns just seem to like being out. We have one, Valen, who is a ghost and he is ALWAYS out and seems to want to be held and to go to new places.
