    too good to be true?

Is a 100% het for pied male really worth only $60? That seems quite low, right? I found a guy selling for that price. What do you guys think?

$60 for a 100% het pied seems real low, but a $60 normal seems closer, might be a deal either way.

Re: too good to be true?

If I were you I would pay a tiny bit more for a het pied male from a reputable breeder. It would really suck to use up a pied or het pied female on a bad "too good to be true" deal.

That being said, based on those crappy pics I would buy him as a het pied, if it were a female

male hets generally go for really low prices. Some het pieds do have the belly stripes but so do some normals. Theres no way to tell he is a het unless you breed him and he proves out.

Het piers have black "train track" markers along the sides of the belly. The second pic you posted shows what I'm talking about pretty clearly so yes he has them but that's not proof of a het as not all hets have the markers. The markers just up your odds a little. Do a search on here for het pied markers on here there have been several threads about it.

As far as price it's not too far off I paid 50 for my male het pied and I have seen several on kingsnake in that range.

That's not too far off at all. It may just be someone whom needs the space. It's the females that everyone holds back and makes room for. The markers look right. But they aren't a definate. I mean really a 60$ gamble isn't bad at all. My 100% het pied female has the exact same looking markers but that isn't a guarantee on that one.

Oh, I was looking at that exact ad earlier lol. The snake they have pictured has the "markers", though those are not always accurate. There's only a belly-shot in the ad, but from what I can tell, being that it is local so you'd be able to see the snake before paying, it's a decent price for a breeder-size male, who he says is already producing plugs. It appears to be a breeder selling it, maybe just trying to make room and may have papers.

If I had room, I'd get him lol

Re: too good to be true?

I'd hate to get a het that isn't het.

Be sure of the person first.

The snake can't talk. Is a pied het a visual het. Not in my book.
