    Feeding Question

My ball python is currently eating medium size mice. Should I be feeding rats instead of mice? What size rat is good replacement for a medium size mouse if so?

I'm thinking either a large rat fuzzy or rat pup would be comparable in size to a medium mouse.

Depends on the age/size. I start my babies off on rat pups, skip the whole mouse thing altogether..

    Re: Feeding Question

Personally, I prefer rats because when the snake gets bigger I can get bigger prey items, and its just note convenient for me to just have to feed one prey item per feeding as opposed to multiple mice for adults/adolescents. It's up to you though. Many ball python go theory entire life on move and do perfectly fine, so it isn't that big of an impact so long as the snake is getting the right amount of food.

Even my smallest female is on rat pups. I haven't weighed her yet but if I had to guess she's only 150-200 grams max.
