rat cage too close to snake tank?

Hi. I just read a post on "scenting" put the rat in the same room/close to your snake a few hours before a feed. I keep my rat and snake in the same room! almost 2 feet away. is that bad? heres a pic. you can see the rat cage, its in the closet. http://img545.imageshack.us/i/imag0121x.jpg/

I have done it for years and never had any issue as far as feeding response went.

Re: rat cage too close to snake tank?

I keep most of my animals in the same room simply because of space. I have a home office where I keep my 2 snakes along with 4 lizards, 4 hamsters and a chinchilla. The rest of the animals are in other areas but I've never had a problem with it and handling/feeding the snakes. They each have their own feeding tub so they know when it's time to eat
