Do you really need small hides in hatchling racks?

I'm looking to buy a RBI Iris shoe box hatchling rack http://www.reptilebasics.com/iris-sh...r-16-tub-sizes and I'm trying to figure out, does having a tiny hide in these shoe box bins are really make a difference to the baby BP's?

I've had the privilege of touring the facilities of a few large scale BP operations and I've noticed that none of them have those hides in their hatchling rack bins which is making me wonder if they are really necessary, what do you guys think?

I usually don't with the majority of hatchling hatchlings and than there are the special cases that need a little extra security even in a 6 quarts tub (those are rare).

So I would say you will likely not need them just have a few just in case for the exceptions.

It all depends on what you want to do and what is easier for you. A friend of mine gives almost all of his snakes in racks hides, and I give few of mine hides. Either way works, there's really no right or wrong way. Trial and error!

This is pretty much what I've noticed with mine also. Only in very rare cases with babies need hides in a 6qt tub.

I've never used hides in the baby bins.

I do not use them. Most of the hatchlings that want to hide either wedge themselves between the paper substrate or hide under it.
