Tough first week for my first ball...

Hey guys, I posted last tuesday that I got my first ball. I named her Tuna . Long story short, I was going to place her in her feeding bin and noticed a crawly on my hand...mites. I put her back in her cage, and had to go to school soon, so I did a bit of research and phoning around to figure out the mite problem. It was a really stressful day for me and Tuna, and I felt horrible having to spray her with chemicals and such. Anyways, the next day she was crawling around like a hungry snake and offered her a meal. She snatched it instantly.

I have a few photos of her to share with you guys. The first couple are ones I snached before I found the mites, and the seconds ones I grabbed before feeding her.

Also before feeding I checked for mites and I could not find any living ones on her. There are quite a few corpses in her home though, so I will have to clean those up. So hopefully things get a little nicer for Tuna. She still has a couple more treatments to remove the mites, but they shouldnt be quite as nasty as before. Tuna is a beautiful girl and seems very healthy

Hope It Gets Better Did You Switch To Paper Towel Check In The Bottom Of The Water Bowl For Any Mites And Theres Like A Small Opening Under There Mouth See If Theres Any Mites In There. Do Not Spray Directly On Its Body Grab A Piece Of Cloth And Spray That Then Let Him Move Around That Piece Of Cloth. Very Beautiful Normal By The Way.

Congrats on the new snake! She looks great! You can take this how you want to but I would highly recommend changing the bedding and wiping everything down ASAP! Mites will come back. You need to pull everything out, clean it thoroughly with your mite liquid, wipe the tank/tub/etc. Do her while she's outside the tub and then put new bedding in the tank. You should probably just use newspaper or something like that until everything is for sure done and gone. Lots of people think they got rid of the problem to realize frustratingly too soon that they will pop right back up. Some people might not agree but is it really worth the risk for an hour max of work? Not at my house. Good luck and great looking snake

    Regards,

    B

All been done. The first few pics show her old bedding and the last ones she is on paper towel. There have been no bodies found in here water bowl since she has been treated. The few corpses around the tank were ones that were still clinged on her when she was sprayed and bathed (in diluted solution). I have checked around her eyes, in her heat vents etc and see no live ones. On monday the process is to be repeated. Spray her house, her and give her another diluted bath. Then her bedding will be replaced, sprayed and she will be returned. Im very vigilant in killing these buggers, and spent a good 3 hours making sure every single thing that even looked at her got sprayed.
