Hows this for a substrate??

It was just melamine... I added a solid one piece of linoleum with 1 go round acqurilic (sp) caulk & then another round with bathroom caulk.... should be water proof. Now I just need the snake... no ball tho... I tired the best to get the humidity to even 60% and could only achieve 50%, plus Ive heard they can be finicky eaters which as a new owner would stress me out majorily lol!

LOL.... I said CORN SNAKE.... there will be aspen in there also... its drying and airing out. I have a heat lamp & also a 8x18 UTH under it with wood allowing airflow to the UTH... & then a night bulb to help keep the temps right.

If the UTH under the tank doesnt get warm enough I might just buy one of those inside the cage heat mats from Big Apple Herp... I have a rheostat to control how hot it gets.

Careful with the heat lamp - they can really dry out the environment and lead to shedding issues. Just be sure and monitor humidity levels if you use it.

Other than that it looks great! Going to be one happy corn.
