advice on buying a new bp
well my buddys here an he brought his bp. we know nothing about it but did find a picture that looks just like her. he wants to sell me the bp a 20long tank thehies eerything for him for 200 buck s my first question is this a good idea. hes about 2 snd hslf ft long. 2nd question will she be like my normal bp tyson? 3rd what is he i kno hes a morph but we found two pics of him an they both say something diff. any help or advice would be appriciated
again it is a female vet checked healthy an female 31 inches long.
basiclly i just need some support to justify spendin 200 bucks to the wifey after spen 400 a month ago on tyson lol u guys were right these things are addictive.
this place says hes a pastel butter but the vet said she was a mojave so which is it
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=210632

i'm confused, so are you buying your friend's snake or are you buying from the link?If you're buying your friends, did he buy it as a morph? If so then he should already know what it is. when you say "this place says hes a pastel butter" did someone ID it for you or did you just compare it to the picture. If your friend is not sure about what it is, the price he paid for her may be a decent indicator whether its a pastel butter or a mojave if either.
And what do you mean by if it'll be like tyson? Like personality wise? She may be, she may not be. snakes are like people in that every one is a little different. I've got a normal who is little miss chill socialite, while my other one is skittish of me walking by the cage whenever she's out and strikes.
0.1 normal - Constantine , 0.1 Spider - Lilu
3.0 doggies -Charlie (rottweiler), Luke (golden retriever), Dallas (german shepherd)
1.0 Betta fish - Norris
1.0 Rat - Forrest (R.I.P Mook and Milo)
1.0 frenchman

i apolagize if i wasnt specific enough to answer your questions.
1 im buying from my buddy possibly
2 he inherited when his brother passed away 2 months ago
3 i was iding her from the pictures i found online the pic on the link is exactly like her color and marking wise but when he took her to the vet (ri) the vet said she was a standard mojave whatever that is.
4 yes i was preffering to attitude like i just got used to tyson to where he dont bother me and he very docile. i guess my question was with him being a morph do all the rules and temperment still apply. do they behave the same way, same tank requirements
5 is it a good deal i dont wanna pay 200 bucks for a snake could get for 80 the only thing im really getting with him is the tank as the hides are hidious homemade with duct tape and cardboard the under tank heater barely gets warm, the the over the top light is a aquarium top that spands the whole tank and has a broken up old window screen taped to the top of the tank instead of a lid. therefor id have to replace all that stuff so thats another 150-200 bucks. and he doesnt even have the thermometers or hydrometer.
i hope this helps i really do want him just wanna make sure its a good bu and id like to know what he is. you guys are so helpfull here i just wanted to run it by a few ppl

Re: advice on buying a new bp
also if he is one of those butter things what would happen if i bred her to my normal male. some of y friends are realy into cornsnakes and stuff im the only one with a python. they all want one now so i was think if i could breed the two id have i could give em away to my friends i dont wanna be no big breeder or anything

Breeding her to a normal male would be a complete waste. Male morphs are inexpensive, even a pastel male would be way better. Normal males are pretty much useless to breeders.

Breeding a normal x butter would give you more normals and more butters. Each egg has a 50% chance of being a normal or a butter.
Neither sexes genetics are more important. As far as I know there is only one possibly sex linked mutation in ball pythons (I believe its the banana, I heard about it on one of the reptile radio episodes). Other than that it doesn't matter which parent has which genes.
I'm also going to say that breeding any morph female to a normal male is a waste. Male morphs are so cheap that it would be worth it to just get a morph (even a pastel) and breed it to the female for the chance of hitting the combo.

thank you for clearing that up i understand the "waste" point that was made its just that im not that into the breeding thing i was more or less just wondering if it was possible to get more of the bannanas. maybe give some to my buddies who cant afford them or dnate them to the snake ppl that go around the schools in this area to show them off or whatever.
any feedback on my other questions?

All BPs have the same basic requirements for care regardless if they are a morph or not. As for temperament I don't think that it really affects them that much, I know that spiders have a quirky nature due to the morph but I think that they are the only ones.
Of course I could be wrong.
