    First boa

I got my first boa today. My husband got him as a anniversary present for me. He is a 2010 red tail boa seems to be doing very well. This brings by snake family to 11 this is totally awesome. I am looking forward to learning about him. I have not named him yet. Any suggestions? I will post pictures as soon as I get some I will also be getting a brb with in the next week. Happy anniversary to me.

Congrats on your new boa. They are my favorite species. I love their personalities. Be sure to post pics when you get them.

    Lightbulb Names?

for a male hunter or Eetwidomalah ( he who greets with fire ) i breed red tails so as far as personality they are the only big snakes i know that dont genarally give self defense bites lol.

    Re: First boa

Thank you for the suggestions. I have a lot to learn about him he is young and still a bit nippy he has not made contact yet but strikes if we move to fast or some one walks buy when you are holding him. I tried to feed him for the first time and he would not eat. I know this happens sometimes especially moving and new stress around him but it still worries me until they eat. One thing that shocked me was yesterday he climbed into his water and completely covered his head. Sat there for a second then came up for air. He did that a couple times very weird to me I have never seen that before with any of our other snakes. He has been a good bather since we have had him so I took a little more water out of the bowl and he can still bathe but not drown him self. I need to read up some more I guess.

My guyana spent a lot of time in his water dish as well until I got him some better hides. Just a thought.

Definitely post pics we love them around here.

    Re: First boa

I'm in the same boat...brand new boa last week...very nippy, but has already eaten a couple of times...f/t rat pups...if only i could get my Ball to eat that good. He spends most of his time in his hide now, but at least he's looking out to see who's around...I like that.

Congrats on your new pet...it should be an interesting adventure

He finally ate I am so glad!! We also named him Moriarty. The markings on his face look like a bad guy mustache.
