Many people have had success just stacking tubs. Same u do as in a rack just nothing in between the tub and with lids. Flexwatt or heatpad is taped to the bottom of each tub. then stacked. So yea there is heat on the bottom of each tub and the top of the one before it. Iv done it before, its works quite well

I have UTHs taped to the bottom of the tubs with aluminum tape I bought from Home Depot. Then all I do is stack em. The bottom tub on both stands have a probe from the thermostat between the UTH and the plastic. It takes a little time to set everything up but once its up and running it works fairly well for me and the snakes alike. Ill have to remember to take some photos to show how its set up.
