    Ready to take the plunge

I've got $850 saved up to get me into blood/short-tailed pythons. I was going to put it into a new ball python morph, but I just have to get into these. What should I get? Baby morphs or maybe some adults? I'm planning on breeding them. It is not a lot, but I want to put the money I do have into the right animals. I think sumatrans are my favorite color wise out of the 3. So, if you were in my shoes what would you buy?

If you've never kept short tails before, get a hatchling for sure so you can get the feel of the species and know what to expect. If you like Sumatrans, go for a Sumatran. If I personally had that kind of money, I would do one of several things. If you're looking for some high end morphs (maybe not the best idea since it'll be your first?), ultra breits (Borneos) are the coolest! In terms of bloods and black bloods, Kara at bloodpythons.com has some phenomenal animals!
I've had this page bookmarked on my computer for a long time. Talk about high end Sumatrans!

Take a look at some of Kara's other stuff, also check out Keith McPeek (thebloodline.net). You can also search classifieds sites (faunaclassifieds.com, market.kingsnake.com, etc.) to get a feel for what you like.

Wow I'm loving kara's snakes. I think that the natural phases of the higher-end bloods are more gorgeous than the morphs I've seen.

High end "normals" certainly are gorgeous and with $850 you could get an insanely nice one (especially if its a baby). Kara has some great stuff so she's definitely worth checking out, but there are a lot of good breeders out there.

Take some time to look around and see whats available. And always try to see the parents since that's your best guess on what the babies will end up looking like.

    ps
    Check your pms.
I just uploaded some pics from my Galapagos Islands trip. I think they are worth checking out.

    1.0 Borneo STP- Louis
