Still no problems with mine. No chewing. They seem happy in there. lots of babies.Big litters.
I looked at cement mixing tubs and cat litter pans too. Then one morning I was having breakfast in a local spot(two poached eggs on corned beef hash with rye toast with caraway seeds, and coffee) when I saw the bus tubs. Like I said before they look like the tubs ARS uses in the rat rack they sell.

I am building a second one.

by the dimensions listed on the link, they are smaller than the cement mixing tubs in everything but depth

I built a rack using these tubs.....2 actually

rats have been in them a week and they are working on the inner corners already. Time will tell if they hold up or not.

Nice looking rack. I thought of redoing my racks with those.

I have been using bus tubs for a while and I have had two tubs that the rats started chewing on the tubs and made a very small hole. So eventually you may get a chewer but regardless of what you use rats are more then likely going to chew on it eventually. I like the bus tubs they are alot thicker then the cement and the litter pans.

Two years later,...no holes chewed anywhere on any of these tubs. They are so happy with the rat condo (AKA Ratcatraz) they seem to have no desire to escape.

Thats good. Keep doing what your doing because I built my first rack with these exact tubs and had a chew out within first 8 months. Only one but thats all it takes. Now I am going with mortar tubs only. For the price on the webstaurant tubs and shipping you can get the Lowes tubs for 5.25 so not that big of a differrence. I liked them at first but am now VERY happy with the mortar tubs. But hey if it works for you GREAT.
