Preferably live if you want to get them started fast, F/T for hatchlings is much more tricky.
I would recommend a least 2 to 3 live feedings
They move through sizes fairly quickly from hoppers to small mice to adult.

Re: hatchling food ?
I would go with the large pinkie mice or the peach fuzzies mice. For the fist couple of meals. They are cheaper than the pinkie rats and easier for the hatchling to eat.

1.0 Spinner
1.1 Mojaves
1.2 Pastels
1.0 Black Pastel
0.3 Normals
1.0 Anerytheristic Corn
55 gal. African Cichlids

Pinkie mice and fuzzy mice are not appropriate for hatchling BP

all my hatchings take down full grown mice with no issues, but I also feed live. I'm looking in to breeding my own rats and mice this coming spring to save on that expense.
DC Reptiles.com coming soon....

Re: hatchling food ?
Pinks and fuzzies in mice are too small for a hatchling. Go for a hopper mouse, or fuzzy rats if you want to get them on rats early. Definitely try to go for live the first couple feedings to make sure they get started.
