Do females eat after ovy?
I offered a rat to one of my girls that I thought had an ovy and prelay shed and she ate it. Is it normal for females to eat after ovy?

Normal..not so much but I had a female that never went off food last year.. Ate a small rat three days later laid a clutch of 5 great eggs, ate another rat 20 minutes after I took her off the eggs..so yea it happens..
When you've got 10,000 people trying to do the same thing, why would you want to be number 10,001? ~ Mark Cuban "for the discerning collector"

My first year breeding so I could be mistaken but I hope she is just an odd ball! She has always eaten like a pig! It is almost 2 weeks after prelay shed so she still has awhile yet!

I guess no one has an answer to this! I was hoping some of the vets would chime in!

??? Someone did answer you. Sometimes females will eat after ovulation but usually they don't. I don't usually bother offering meals post ovulation anymore.

I know but I just wanted to hear if others have experienced this!

I think most people I talk to don't bother trying since offering food could be disturbing her more than they would want to. Before the lay, females look pretty fat! I think after is when people are going to want to feed them since they are usually more receptive to food after all that weight loss and exertion of laying the eggs. ^^ From what i hear, enough of them just flat out refuse that it isn't worth bothering with...
