    weight loss

I have a 2007 male pastel that I'm a tad concerned about. this is my first year breeding and i paired him to my 05 wild type female. she is still eating and just about to start her shed before ovulation. he has refused food since 12/18/2010. he is a proven breeder and has been breeding for years but this is the first year I have him so I assumed he'd go off feed for the season as most will do. my question is how much weight loss is too much? he weighed around 2262 on 12/18 and presently he weighs 2162 about 1 month and a week later. normal weight loss or no?

    thanks for your help

Has he had a poo in between there ? I bet some of that was rat weight I have had snakes go off food for many months and not loose 100 grams but he is still plenty big I wouldn't worry at all yet as long as your husbandry is correct he will start eating again when he is ready.

I have an 07 male pastel that hasn't eaten since Nov 23, he was 2356 when he started breeding and now hes 2219. As long as you keep him hydrated and offer him food once a week and give him a couple days off inbetween breeding. He should be fine, as long as hes not dropping weight drastically I would think its normal

alright good. yeah I've only been pairing the two every two weeks for 2-3 days at a time. his temps/humidity are great the normal female in the same rack just had a perfect shed today he was just looking a little triangular but his weight is still up there. here's a current pic of him.

    he's the pastel

He is a big boy and I think for a BP that size, and a male BP, loosing couple hundred grams due to fasting is really no big deal as long as he is healthy.
